What is Virtualization?


Virtualization is the process of creating virtual instances or representations of computer resources, such as servers, operating systems, storage devices, or networks. It involves separating the physical infrastructure from the logical layers, allowing for greater flexibility, efficiency, and resource utilization.

There are several types of virtualization:

  5. Application Virtualization: Application virtualization separates applications from the underlying operating system and encapsulates them into virtual containers. It simplifies application deployment, improves compatibility, and enhances system security.
  6. Operating System Virtualization: Operating system virtualization, also known as containerization, allows for multiple isolated instances or containers of an operating system on a single physical host. It provides lightweight, efficient, and isolated execution environments.

These types of virtualization enable organizations to achieve greater flexibility, scalability, cost savings, and improved resource utilization. They have revolutionized the IT industry by enabling efficient management of infrastructure, enhancing security, and simplifying the deployment and maintenance of applications and services.
